In 2014, VivaConnect launched iVote, a product that let people vote using nothing but a missed call. It powered voting for the Zee Cine Awards that year, and within hours of going live, votes came pouring in from across India, including places where smartphones and reliable internet were still rare.
Giving Everyone the Same Way In
What stood out wasn't just the scale. It was who got to participate.
A missed call didn't care if you were in Mumbai or a small town in Bihar, if you had a smartphone or a basic Nokia, or if you could read English. Everyone had the same way in. Everyone's vote counted the same. At a time when most digital products were built for the urban, English-speaking, smartphone-owning customer, iVote quietly worked for everyone else too.
That idea, giving people a way to be heard regardless of where they are or what device they're holding, has stayed at the core of what we build.
The Same Question, Asked Differently Today
VivaConnect is the parent company behind Helo.ai. Back then, the question was: how do you let someone vote with a missed call? Today, the question is: how do you let a customer respond, ask, complain, or choose, in whatever language and on whatever channel they're comfortable with?
The tools have changed completely. Missed calls and IVR have given way to WhatsApp, voice AI, RCS, and intelligent conversations. But the underlying commitment hasn't moved.
What This Looks Like With Helo.ai
With Helo.ai, that commitment is built into how brands engage with customers today. A customer in a metro city and a customer in a small town can both reach a brand, be understood, and get a response that actually makes sense, whether that's over WhatsApp, voice, RCS, or whatever channel they prefer.
iVote gave a million voices the same starting point, a missed call. Helo.ai is built on that same belief, just applied to how brands listen and respond to customers now, at scale, and intelligently.
